Safety Tips Before Going White Water Rafting
- Always listen to your guide, they know what to expect.
- Make sure your instructor is fully qualified.
- Ensure the proper equipment is provided and you wear it at all times - helmet, wetsuit and life jacket.
- Make sure you are physically fit for the task you are about to undertake.
- Select age-appropriate trips.
- Wear your lifejacket at all times when in or near the water.
- If you are going rafting make sure you tell someone where you are going and when you expect to return, and who to call if you don't.
- Know how to react to river hazards such as holes, boulders and walls.
- Know what to do if your raft flips over or if an accident occurs.
What to Wear When White Water Rafting
- You should take a swimsuit or something similar to wear under your wetsuit.
- Wear thermals if rafting during the winter or on a cold day.
- Towels
- Training shoes or boots.
- Courage, determination and a fun attitude.
- Extra clothes to change into.
