History of Lost Paddle
This rapid, Lost Paddle is known as the longest single rapid on the Gauley river. Lost Paddle consist of four main drops. The First drop is very rocky and shallow water with numerous entrances for rafters and kayakers. The Second drop is known for is fast moving shallow, rocky water. During this drop you will encounter the Hawaii 5-0 wave on the left and Six Pack Rock in the middle. The shallow and violent hold in the middle of the Third Drop is a particular place you want to watch out for during this trip down. Tumble Home, also known as Lost Paddle final drop, is one of the most difficult parts of this rapid to go through.
